I'm not gonna get all longwinded about this, but I've discovered something while watching these Olympic games.
Many of these athletes are doing some pretty amazing stuff that doesnt recieve as much attention due to a sort of "lack of marketability". Many amateur sports that are participated in worldwide take a backseat to pro sports and some of the "glamour events" such as Gymnastics and figure skating.
I'm watching the swimming and diving and thinking to myself about how tough it would be to do thses things that we dont really appreciate as the rest of the world does. We have come a long way and it's not uncommon now for the average American to know the names of swimmers and divers and track and field stars thanks in much part ot the coverage by the media but..
When you consider how many kids participate in these sportsd from the time they can barely walk all the way through to college, it's amazing how little attention we sometimes pay to them.

I tip my hat to the amateur athletes who are going for the gold, and for all of them that are trying to live out and follow their Olympic dreams.
